Of the defensive backs on the 2014 NFL Free Agent market, one of the more coveted at this point is probably five-year veteran Mike Mitchell of the Carolina Panthers. As the Charlotte Observer points out, there are already a slew of teams that are ready to see if they can bring him in to beef up their secondary.

With five years under his belt, Mitchell is hitting the prime of his career, making this the perfect time for him to hit the market. In 2013, he was one of the more effective defensive players on the Panthers’ roster as they made their run to the playoffs, recording 66 tackles with four interceptions and 3.5 sacks.

Of all these teams involved, you can probably expect the Eagles to make the hardest run at bringing in Mitchell, seeing as they desperately need that secondary help, which as we saw last year could push them further into the playoffs than they were able to get last season.

Nonetheless, whatever happens, someone out there is going to get a young playmaker in Mitchell.
