NBA Rumors: Cavs think they can sign LeBron James by trading for Kevin Love?
By Bryan Rose
Miami Heat superstar LeBron James spent his Saturday night in his former stomping grounds, watching the Cleveland Cavaliers retire the jersey of former teammate Zydrunas Ilgauskas.
And while it was hugs and handshakes all around, wondering minds couldn’t help but question if James would really entertain the thought of returning to the Cleveland Cavaliers franchise.
For what it’s worth, the organization doesn’t seem to think it’s all that outlandish as Jason Lloyd of Ohio.com reports. All they’ll need to do is acquire a star player like Kevin Love or LaMarcus Aldridge.
"But the Cavs privately believe it’s not too late. They still have the assets to pull off a mammoth trade this summer at the draft, the type Grant tried so hard to make. Kevin Love will be entering the final year of his contract, as will LaMarcus Aldridge. Grant tried for two years to unsuccessfully pry both stars out of their current cities, but each had too many years left on their contracts for their current teams to consider it. That’s no longer true."
While Love and Aldridge might not be completely off limits and the Cavs do have pieces to make a play, that’s still a pretty lofty dream.
That said – Love or Aldridge would be a solid pairing alongside Kyrie Irving, James or not.
