The New York Giants tried to sign Hakeem Nicks to a large deal a few seasons ago, but the two sides were unable to find a middle ground.

Consider that a bullet dodged for the Giants, who opted to give that cash to Victor Cruz.

In the seasons since, Nicks has been incredibly average and according to the New York Daily News, it’s believed Nicks and his camp are getting ‘nervous’ in regards to potential lack of interest/money.

"Hakeem Nicks is getting nervous – His agents leaked a story to ESPN about how he’s sending a doctor’s note to teams informing them that he’s fully healthy and no longer hampered by foot and knee injuries that hampered him the last few years. Why would his side leak that story? Because they’ve clearly learned he’s not as valuable anymore as he thought. And if he can’t get the monster deal he expected, he may as well go someplace and try to prove he’s worth it when the cap goes up again next year."

That said, Nicks is still a wide receiver who brings with him potential and proven seasons in the past (if nothing else) so a team will give the veteran a solid opportunity.

It’ll be up to him to capitalize on that chance.
