The NFL free agency period officially opens on Tuesday and teams are starting to narrow down their list of free agent targets to go after. Fo the san Diego Chargers, the NFL Draft is also looking to be a resource for adding talent to the roster and they have eyes set on and interesting prospect atop the draft.

According to the Chargers official team site, the team has Notre Dame defensive tackle Louis Nix III listed among the prospects worthy of giving a profile to.

Per Chargers beat writer Rickey Henne:

"For as impressive as Nix is on the gridiron, he is equally engaging off of it.  He charmed the media with a witty press conference at the Combine and is well known for his propensity for humorous takes on Twitter.  Overall, Nix figures to make a big impact in the middle for years to come."

This could all just be the Chargers doing their diligence and posting up a profile on everyone, but there could be more to it. Adding Nix would be great for the Chargers defensive front, but it would require moving up in the draft significantly.

If the Chargers add big free agent talent, they may feel comfortable moving up to get Nix, but then again this could all just be smoke and mirrors.
