The New England Patriots are an interesting offensive makeup, as they have one of the most elite quarterbacks in the game but tend to spread the ball around evenly on the roster. And by evenly that means they get the ball to anyone who is eligble at any given time.

Like the New Orleans Saints the Patriots utilize multiple running back rotations, as we’ve seen guys like Shane Vereen, Danny Woodhead, LeGarrette Blount and Steven Ridley all split carries at one time or another, plus guys we still have barely heard of.

This is why ESPN.com’s Bill Williamson believes the Patriots could be an interesting landing spot for free-agent-to-be running back Darren Sproles.

In his Insider’s only piece on ESPN, Williamson states that the Bill Belichick loves his mismatches and Sproles is the king of the mismatch. We saw what Drew Brees was able to do with Sproles inNew Orleans and you’d better believe that Tom Brady would kill to have that kind of a weapon to use.

Receiving targets were lacking for New England in 2013, but adding Sproles could instantly open the offense up and make Tom Brady an elite threat once again.
