Jairus Byrd is expected to be cash in during free agency this year after the Buffalo Bills elected to pass on giving him the franchise or transition tag, but according to NFL Media insider Ian Rapoport the Washington Redskins, once big spenders on the free agent market are not expected to pursue the pro bowl safety.

After the Bills decided to let Byrd hit the free agent market it seemed like the door had been closed on a return to Buffalo, and it may still be remote, but Rapoport says it’s possible, so there could be some drama with Byrd once players are free to sign with teams at 3 p.m. CT.

Byrd could command upward of $8.5 to 9 million dollars per season on the market after making the All-Pro teams in each of the past two seasons and three times in his five year career. He is a former second round pick out of Oregon.
