Now that they have officially lost Malcolm Jenkins to the Philadelphia Eagles, the New Orleans Saints are going to throw their name right into the Jairus Byrd sweepstakes, and they’re going to get serious about it as the two parties will meet with one another shortly, according to Adam Schefter.

Not long after the Free Agency period opened up, it was announced that Jenkins would be leaving the team after five years to go to Philly, so pursuing the hottest free agent defensive back on the market to replace him makes more than enough sense.

There really hasn’t been much talk surrounding Byrd and the Saints since it was speculated that he wouldn’t be returning to Buffalo, but you can never underestimate the Saints organization and head coach Sean Payton when it comes to matters such as this.

With the recent loss of some key players, the Saints landing the young DB would be the splash that they need this offseason.
