The Green Bay Packers aren’t likely to bring Jermichael Finley back, which has lead them to delve into the NFL’s free agent pool looking for a new tight end.

One name that has been rumored is Owen Daniels, who was released by the Houston Texans on Tuesday.

Daniels is expected to meet with the Green Bay Packers in the very near future – possibly today.

"#Texans TE Owen Daniels, a former UW product, is making a visit to Green Bay to meet with the #Packers, according to an NFL source."

The Packers and general manager Ted Thompson don’t exactly have the most active free agent history in regards to signing ‘name’ players (if you consider Daniels a ‘name player’) but with such a glaring tight end need, they may need to bite the bullet here.

With such a talented group of wide receivers and Aaron Rodgers under center, Daniels would likely return to his Pro Bowl-esque form with the Packers and could prove to be a very solid signing if the two sides can find a middle ground.
