The Houston Texans parted ways with longtime tight end Owen Daniels on Tuesday which lead many to believe they would be moving forward with Garrett Graham.

And while that may have been the plan, it appears the two sides are finding it difficult to agree on a middle ground in regards to a new contract.

According to ESPN, the contractual talks between the two sides are going ‘slow’:

"Yesterday Graham characterized negotiations between his people and the Texans as “slow.” Graham hit the market yesterday without a deal in place with the Texans. The tight end market as a whole has been slow and could pick up today, now that the first wave of signings is out of the way."

That can’t be considered good news for the Texans since there are a handful of teams looking for a tight end addition in free agency and Graham is among one of the better available on the market.

If the two sides can’t agree on a deal, Ryan Griffin would move into a starting role for the Texans. Griffin brings with him a better pass catching/route running skill than Graham, but not nearly the blocking capabilities.
