The New England Patriots, who have already lost cornerback Aqib Talib to the Denver Broncos, could lose their leading wide receiver for the second straight season (Wes Welker and Julian Edelman) and released defensive tackle Isaac Sopoaga on Wednesday, are attempting to lock up one of their own.

According to Albert Breer of the NFL Network, the Patriots are talking to defensive tackle Vince Wilfork.

The Patriots have also reportedly approached Wilfork about restructuring his deal. The Patriots are trying to free money to possibly keep Edelman, make a run at cornerback Darrelle Revis and fill some others holes they have, especially at wide receiver.

The Patriots selected Wilfork with the 21st overall pick in the first round of the 2004 NFL Draft.

Wilfork unfortunately was limited to just four games because of an Achilles injury last season.

It was only the third time Wilfork didn’t play in all 16 games and the first time he has missed more than three games.
