The SEC Tournament kicked off with a bang on Wednesday, but things will be heating up on a day-by-day basis, and Thursday’s slate is full of quality games, starting with a match-up between the Missouri Tigers and Texas A&M Aggies in the day’s opener.

Missouri is the de facto favorite in their opening game, and the Tigers are in desperate need of a win. As of the start of the SEC Tournament, Mizzou is firmly on the wrong side of the bubble after struggling down the stretch, and most experts feel as if they need to make a deep SEC Tournament run. The Tigers are led by a high-level offense (they’ve scored 113.6 points per 100 possessions this season), and it’ll be a strength-on-stretch battle against the impressive Texas A&M defense.

Speaking of the Aggies’ defense, it was easily Texas A&M’s strength this season, holding opponents to just 97.0 points per 100 possessions, and if you factor in the incredibly slow pace that they like to play at, opposing offenses had all kinds of trouble. Unfortunately, A&M had a great deal of problems scoring the ball on the other end (offense ranked outside the top-250 nationally, yikes), and in order to hang around against the more talented Tigers, they will need to knock down shots at a rate that they are not accustomed to sustaining.
