It was known that free agent linebacker Brandon Spikes was in Buffalo for a visit with the Bills, but now reports are surfacing that Spikes and the team have indeed agreed to a contract to make the former New England Patriot a member of the AFC East rival Bills.

The deal is being reported by former Bleacher Report Bills columnist and local media member Chris Trapasso.

Spikes signing would give the Bills a linebacker who specializes in playing against the run in the middle. And with the recent moving of Kiko Alonso to the outside spot, Spikes to the Bills only made even more sense for the two parties.

The Bills, like every AFC East team, have been busy stocking up talent for the 2014 season. So far the team has re-signed TE Scott Chandler and signed CB Corey Graham, G Chris Williams and OLB Keith Rivers. RB Anthony Dixon also visited the Bills on Friday, but there as been no news about a potential deal between the two sides.

As of now, there has been no official word from the Bills in terms of a contract signing, and ESPN’s Adam Caplan has stated that no deal has been done yet.
