Chivas USA vs. Vancouver Whitecaps: 10 Bold Predictions

Two hot teams go at it on Mar. 16 at the StubHub Center in Carson, Calif.: Wilmer Cabrera’s Chivas USA and Carl Robinson’s Vancouver Whitecaps. Chivas are coming off a 3-2 victory over the Chicago Fire, while the Whitecaps are looking to build on their 4-1 rout of the New York Red Bulls at B.C. Place Stadium.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. PT/10 p.m. ET and will be televised by CTV2 BC and MLS LIVE. Here are 10 Bold Predictions for Sunday’s contest between Chivas USA and the Vancouver Whitecaps.

1. A Goal Festival: At Least Five

You’re going to see some great soccer between two attacking teams. So in this match, expect at least five goals.

2. Erick Torres on goal for Chivas USA

Erick “Cubo” Torrest was on goal for Chivas USA in their match with Chicago and will be on goal again against Vancouver.

3. Also on goal…Bobby Burling

He won’t be a hero this time around, but Bobby Burling is going to score for Chivas USA again to make it two goals in as many matches.

4. Kenny Miller with a brace for Vancouver

One of the hottest goalscorers in Major League Soccer this early in the season is Scotsman Kenny Miller. It will be Miller time in Chivatown, as Kenny gets a brace against the Goats.

5. Sebastian Fernandez on goal for Vancouver

Sebastian Fernandez is a player that can shoot rockets that can wow fans on both teams. Look for Fernandez to leave an impression once again.

6. Mauro Rosales with two assists

Mauro Rosales was responsible for Chivas’s first victory of the season with a game-winning assists. So Rosales will build on this with a couple more assists, showing that Seattle swag that made him famous up there.

7. Dan Kennedy with at least four saves

Chivas USA goalkeeper Dan Kennedy will make at least four saves against Vancouver in what will look like a losing effort for the Goats.

8. David Ousted with under five saves

It will be a quiet evening for David Ousted, as he makes under five saves against Chivas. The Whitecaps will most likely be on the attack all match, which means Ousted won’t have to do too much work.

9. At least 25 fouls and three cards

In this game, there will be at least 25 fouls whistled and three cards issued by the replacement officials of the league.

10. Vancouver wins a barnburner

In a game full of goals, the Whitecaps will prevail, but not after a spirited effort from Chivas USA.
