NFL fans were missing a familiar face earlier this week with the start of free agency as Fox Sports insider Jay Glazer was not tweeting out signings, visits and players being released like fellow insiders Adam Schefter, Ian Rapoport and Jason LaCanfora.

It would seem like an odd time to take a vacation for Glazer who always seems to be working the phone lines, but he was far form a sunny beach as it turns out he is battling a case of double pneumonia after a back operation took a scary turn.

Glazer posted these tweets to let his fans and colleagues about his current situation:

TMZ Sports paints a much scarier picture however as it could have been a ‘life or death’ situation for Glazer.

“Glazer was having a back procedure to treat a broken disc Tuesday morning … but shortly after doctors put him under he got sick and started choking on his own vomit — the fluid ended up filling BOTH lungs. Glazer was rushed to an L.A. area hospital where his breathing was so shallow his blood oxygen level dropped into the 70s (90-100 is normal) — which over any prolonged period can easily turn into a life or death situation.”

Glazer expressed his love and thanks for the support he’s been receiving via Twitter and hopes to be back covering the UFC event this weekend.

"You guys have never meant so much to me and in and out of treatments I have been reading each tweet thankful to GOD for a life like this— Jay Glazer (@JayGlazer) March 13, 2014"

Hopefully Glazer can get up and out of the hospital as soon as possible and as one of the hardest working guys in any industry, there is little doubt that he will be healthy soon and back in the ring and on the phone with the latest “scoopage.”
