As the years go on, the top priority–now more than ever–is to make sure that QB Ben Roethlisberger hits the ground as little as possible. With this being his 11th year in the league upcoming, they need to keep him as healthy as possible, and that’s why it’s no surprise that Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin and his offensive line staff were on hand at Michigan’s Pro Day this past week to get a close look at Taylor Lewan.

Lewan is widely regarded as the top offensive tackle prospect in the country leading up to the 2014 NFL Draft, and he proved that at the Pro Day, along with the NFL Scouting Combine last month as well.

Throughout his career, Roethlisberger has been sacked at a near record rate, which has attributed to his injury woes over the years. So, Lewan could be brought in by Tomlin and company as the man to make sure that trend doesn’t continue.
