2014 NBA Draft Rumors: Joel Embiid is the only ‘potential franchise player’ in this draft
For the last couple of years, we’ve heard scouts and pundit gush over the 2014 NBA Draft, especially once current Kansas Jayhawks’ forward Andrew Wiggins re-classified and became a member of the class of 2013.
Add in Duke Blue Devils’ forward Jabari Parker, Australian guard Dante Exum and Kentucky big man Julius Randle and there were several players viewed as potential franchise players.
However, according to one NBA scout, Kansas center Joel Embiid is the only player who fits that description.
Another well-respected NBA scribe, NBA.com’s Shaun Powell, has also been told this draft is overrated.
Embiid, who has been out since March 1 with a back injury and is not expected to play in the NCAA tournament’s opening weekend, averaged 11.2 points, 8.1 rebounds, 2.6 blocks and 1.4 assists per game this season.
