Emmanuel Sanders says there was no deal with Chiefs
By Josh Sanchez
The contract negotiations from wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders and his camp have generated plenty of discussion on Sunday as everyone attempts to figure out how he signed with the Denver Broncos.
Prior to joining the Broncos, there was a report that Sanders had agreed to a deal with the Kansas City Chiefs and that he blew off a meeting with the San Francisco 49ers.
It was a bizarre situation and unusual strategy for a free agent, but Sanders wanted to let everyone know how everything worked out to lead him to Denver. And as far as Sanders is concerned, he never agreed to sign with anyone other than the Broncos.
“That entire situation is a business ordeal that some people are turning into a personal matter,” Sanders said, via NFL.com. “Situations like that happen all the time over the National Football League.
“There was no handshake. There was no kind of agreement in terms of — you know — we were close to a deal, but it wasn’t anything official just yet.
While the negotiations may make Sanders look bad, everything will be worth it if he gets to a Super Bowl with the Broncos.
