The New York Knicks bagged themselves Phil Jackson this past week, and it’s something that has a lot of people excited about the future of the franchise. While simply hiring Jackson doesn’t solve any immediate problems for the Knicks, it does mean that things could start falling in place that ensure a bright future.

One of those people excited about the move is Knicks star Carmelo Anthony, who expressed his pleasure with the hiring of Jackson to Ian Begley from ESPN.

Per ESPNNewYork.com:

"“I’m a chess player. That was a power move right there. You know what I mean? So, now we’re going to see what’s the next move, but that was a great power move."

Re-signing Melo is one of the next moves that Jackson has to figure out and it appears that he is starting get more and more on board with that idea. A lot can happen between now and then that stop Melo from re-signing in New York, but he was already leaning in that direction, and the presence of Jackson in the front office may be the event that fully tips him towards re-signing.
