To say the Carolina Panthers are in need of wide receiver depth would be an understatement. That’s likely why free agent wideout Jerricho Cotchery is set to visit the Carolina Panthers this week.

"Cotchery will visit wide-receiver-needy Carolina on Monday. Carolina recently released veteran Steve Smith and lost Brandon LaFell to New England via free agency. Two others teams have also shown interest in the 31-year-old Cotchery, who had a career high 10 touchdowns last year. The Steelers have had preliminary talks with Cotchery, but no deal is imminent."

Cotchery has been absent during the first week of NFL free agency as he was partaking on the Pittsburgh Steelers sponsored cruise, but it’s possible the Panthers could opt to give Cotchery a better deal given how desperate they are.

Despite only posting an average of 37 yards per game last season with Pittsburgh, Cotchery hauled in ten touchdown passes, becoming a red zone target despite his limited 6’1 frame.

Depending on the price, the Panthers could certainly do worse.
