NFL Rumors: Alex Carrington to visit Oakland Raiders, St. Louis Rams

Buffalo Bills’ defensive lineman Alex Carrington has been very busy since free agency started.

He has already visited both the Cleveland Browns and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Carrington has lined up two more visits, going to Oakland to check out the Raiders on Sunday and then heading to St. Louis to see the Rams.

Carrington was originally drafted by the Bills with the 72nd overall pick of the third round in the 2010 NFL Draft. The Arkansas State product had trouble making much of an impact in his first season, making just eight tackles in nine games. By the time his second season came around, he was a regular contributor, playing in all 16 games.

Last season, he finished with 10 tackles in just three games after tearing his quad tendon.

The offer here has to be reasonable. What does he contribute in depth or special teams?

We need as many defensive guys as possible so hopefully we can pick him up very cheap, seeing as he’s coming off injury. I just wish we would start signing more secondary guys. We’ve missed out on good FAs, but I think DRC is still available. I’m glad RM is using FA to focus on defense, and probably focus on offense through the draft. I’m hoping we take Watkins at number 5 because dude is a beast. I just hope we don’t do something stupid and get a QB, especially not manziel. I would say McGloin is just as good throwing the ball, but of course not as mobile. He did throw some passes that leaves me to think that he can hold his own under center. I’d give McGloin another shot at QB and see what he can do with a solid O line. I still remember that bomb he threw to Reece for a TD, it was beautiful, and that was with pressure in his face. Beef up our D and we will be competitive for sure.

I agree. Give McGloin another chance. He is a fighter and has shown potential. He is working out with Garcia during this off season. Plus this year he will get to practice in camp with the starters and not the practice squad; and he will have a line that can block and give him time. Let’s see what he can do. Build the trenches this year and if we need to go after a QB next year.
