The Chicago Bears asked wide receiver Earl Bennett to take a pay cut. Apparently that wasn’t an option for Bennett who refused, and is subsequently expected to be released.

Filling Bennett’s spot on depth chart will be seventh-round draft pick Marquess Wilson.

With two top wide receivers in Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery, Bennett might be disposable. Jeffery had 1,421 receiving yards and seven touchdowns while Marshall had 1,295 yards receiving and 12 touchdowns.
Meanwhile Bennett caught 32 passes for 243 yards and four touchdowns, not exactly difficult numbers to replicate. His reported replacement Wilson caught only two passes for 13 yards though, so he isn’t exactly proven but wasn’t given much of a chance only being targeted three times.
