NFL Draft 2014 Rumors: Blake Bortles has private meeting with Oakland Raiders

After the reported poor Pro Day for Teddy Bridgewater on Monday, the race to be the top QB taken in the upcoming 2014 NFL Draft may be wide open, and Blake Bortles will get the chance to take advantage of that on Wednesday. But before he does that, on Tuesday, he had a private meeting with the Oakland Raiders.

Having a pick in the Top 10, the Raiders absolutely have a chance at landing the former UCF star, the only question is whether or not he’ll last on the board until they’re ready to choose.

The Raiders could most certainly use a franchise QB, as there are still a lot of questions about the long-term worth of both Matt McGloin and Terrelle Pryor. They’ve been rumored to be in the market for some of the quarterbacks still left on the free agent market, but taking a potential star for the future wouldn’t be a bad idea by any means.

Hopefully he changes the dynamic of the draft so the Raiders get the best pick of the first round. In whatever form that happens to be. You picking up what up saying? The Autumn wind cometh…

Been saying it and will continue heart can not be measured.Derek Carr is the best qb in this draft and not one of the anointed qbs is a better passer or a better leader and not one of them has had the coaching that Derek has had since he was 10.Go ahead and believe the writers the GMs in the league aren’t sure of the pens evaluations.pass derek up for one of the bums rated above him and he will be in multiple nightmares forever!

Derek is not David,he has a much stronger personality, and he is wayyy ahead of where David was at this point.according to both David himself and Trent Dilfer.Don’t put Derek with a team with no o line so he can be destroyed like Dave was in Houston. And he will shine

I would not get too excited about this. Its all a chess game. It is possible there is genuine interest, but it is more likely that RM is making others think there is genuine interest – like we did with Carr, Manziel, Clowney, Mack and others. If we can find a dance partner, there is no doubt in my mind we are trading down. The way to make the best deal is to make everyone think you want their guy at #5. Just as fyi, I am a mid 80s UCF grad, so would love having two UCF players in the backfield in 2014 (Bortles & Murray), but the smart move is trading back for more picks.
