Newly appointed New York Knicks President of Basketball Operations, Phil Jackson, has been dating Los Angeles Lakers co-owner Jeanie Buss since 1999.

In the past that hasn’t been a problem considering Jackson was either retired or working for the Los Angeles Lakers during their relationship, but after being hired by the Knicks recently, issues arose – not in their relationship but in regards to a possible conflict of interest.

The NBA had some questions which lead to Jeanie sitting down with NBA Commissioner Adam Silver.

As noted by Ramona Shelburne, considering Jeanie doesn’t work with the Lakers on basketball operations and deals with the business side of the organization, there doesn’t appear to be any problems with their relationship and Jackson’s new job.

For what it’s worth, Buss mentioned that Jackson wanted to return to the NBA in some capacity but there simply was no room for him in regards to the Lakers franchise.

No reason was given as to why, though Buss’ brother Jim (who does handle basketball operations) has always had a somewhat dicey relationship with Jackson.
