While multiple teams are said to have interest in trading for Tennessee Titans running back Chris Johnson, the Arizona Cardinals are not one.

That’s the word from Kent Somers who says the Cardinals have ‘no interest’ in acquiring Johnson or signing free agent running back Maurice Jones-Drew.

"In response to some reports out there, #azcardinals have no interest in chris johnson or Jones-Drew. Carry on."

Arizona is likely pretty comfortable rolling with Andre Ellington as their feature back this season, but they understandably may have concern about keeping him healthy so there’s been talk of adding an early down back to shoulder the load. That’s a role that either Johnson or Jones-Drew would be able to fulfill but the Cardinals just don’t appear to have any desire for either player who have shown serious decline in recent years.

In addition to Ellington, Stepfan Taylor, Jonathan Dwyer, and Ryan Williams are all on the roster and will help Ellington shoulder the workload, assuming the Cardinals don’t add any other backs in free agency or via the draft.
