After a to of chest beating, the Detroit Lions and Pro Bowl defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh are going to finally sit down and start kicking the tires on a long-term contract extension. While nothing seems to be looking like it will move quickly, the fact that talks are at least set to begin is a load off the minds of a lot of Lions fans.

Suh’s long-term deal should free up some cap space for the Lions and relieve a lot of pressure they’ve been feeling in that area. It won’t give them a ton of long-term money, but locking up Suh means the Lions big three stars are all under long-term contracts with other bit players like Reggie Bush, Golden Tate and Joquie Bell all under deals with two or more years left on them as well.
