The Carolina Panthers roster/depth chart has taken a couple big blows during the off-season after losing some key players. Guys like veteran wide receiver Steve Smith and corner-back Captain Munnerlyn.

They really needed to find Munnerlyn’s replacement and have done so today by signing 27 year old defensive back Antoine Cason according to Carolina Panthers beat writer Joe Person on Twitter.

The Long Beach, California native and long-time San Diego Charger played five years with the Bolts before moving onto the Arizona Cardinals for one season in 2013. He finished the year with only 14 combined tackles and two interceptions.

Cason has recorded at least two interceptions in each season with four being a career high in 2010. As of today, Cason has a total of 14 career interceptions, 281 return yards, two touchdowns and 323 combined tackles. He’s yet to record his first career sack.

Great pick up by the Carolina Panthers that could result in a long-term deal depending on how well he plays during the first half of the season.
