The Detroit Lions will be visiting with free agent safety Thomas DeCoud on Friday as the team attempts to find secondary help on a dime. Detroit is getting strapped for cash and they’ll begin working on a contract extension next week with defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh to help relieve some of that cap pressure.

But in the meantime, the team will be calling in DeCoud for a visit and he could be a steal of a signing if the Lions can close the right deal.

DeCoud was a Pro Bowler with the Atlanta Falcons and could help fill the hole left by Louis Delmas being cut and signing elsewhere. If DeCoud is signed, the Lions could theoretically draft someone like Ha Ha Clinton-Dix and pair him with the veteran DeCoud.

A lot can happen and DeCoud isn’t a lock for the Lions, but he’s not a bad option and could open some doors for Detroit to get even better on defense moving forward.
