After signing former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick, the New York Jets have a great bargaining chip that could help them convince Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson to jump ship to New York.

Vick and Jackson had a great relationship in Philadelphia and with Jackson growing unhappy in Philadelphia he could want to rejoin his good friend.

As far as Vick is concerned, it would be a move that he would welcome.

“[I]f there’s an opportunity to get DeSean, I’m pretty sure the New York Jets fans would be in favor of that,” Vick said, via Pro Football Talk.

“But who knows, it takes a lot to make a trade happen [with] all of the intricacies of a contract. It’s not for us as players to decide. But hopefully everything will work out for DeSean. If he ends up in New York, we’ll be happy, just as happy as he will be. But who knows, you can’t say.”

The Jets clearly have a need for a speedy wide receiver and DeSean Jackson could be the No. 1 option that they lack, but they will have to figure out whether or not they can afford to pay him after opening the checkbook for Eric Decker earlier in free agency.
