Everyone wants to make fun of the New York Jets, that’s a given. Sometimes, the jokes are directed at head coach Rex Ryan, even though I think we’ve seen throughout the years that he’s a really good football coach, which was no more evident than it was last year.
One of the rumored problems with the organization is that team management never seems to want to give Rex what he wants, which ultimately hampers the team’s success. That’s why it’s no surprise to learn that during the most recent free agency period, the defensive-minded Ryan really wanted free-agent defensive end DeMarcus Ware on his defense, however management more or less ignored that all together.
For all the talk about the CBs the Jets didn't land, the player Rex Ryan really wanted was DeMarcus Ware. And Jets didn't make a run at him.

As we all know, Ware ended up signing a monster contract with John Elway and the Denver Broncos, among some of their other blockbuster signings.
Meanwhile, Ryan and the Jets’ biggest coup is a wide receiver–ironically enough from Denver–who they’re not entirely sure is a number one receiver and a veteran QB who can’t stay on the field for an entire season.
