In unfortunate college football news on Tuesday night, according to the Associated Press, 19-year-old Navy Midshipmen running back Will McKamey has passed away after collapsing at practice and falling into a coma.

"Navy football player Will McKamey, who has been hospitalized since collapsing at practice three days ago, has died while in a coma. He was 19."

McKamey collapsed at practice last Saturday and was then airlifted to the nearest hospital where he remained in a coma for the past few days until his untimely passing.

Earlier in the week, the school and the family both said in a statement that there was no vicious hit involved or anything of that magnitude. It was revealed that he had sustained a brain injury two years ago, but had been cleared to return to football activities after he was examined by a neurosurgeon.

Right as spring football is getting underway and everyone gets excited about the upcoming football season, you hate to see something of this magnitude and thoughts are with the McKamey family and the school.
