New York Knicks’ forward Carmelo Anthony has been the focus of conversation throughout a majority of the season.

The NBA’s second leading scorer can become a free agent after the season and if he does choose to stick with the Knicks, he will likely choose to become a free agent first, not only to explore his options, but to sign a longer contract.

Although Anthony will have several suitors, it seems like the Knicks’ hiring of Phil Jackson can only help their chances of keeping Anthony.

The two have talked briefly, but have yet to sit down and Anthony is looking forward to chatting with Jackson.

“I’ve seen him here and there — not to where we sit down and talk,” Anthony said before the Knicks played the Lakers Tuesday night at Staples Center via Al Iannazzone of New York News Day. “We’ll figure that out. I’m pretty sure we’ll get together soon.”

Anthony and the Knicks suffered one of their most embarrassing defeats of the season when they were defeated by the Lakers 127-96 on Tuesday night. Anthony had 29 points and nine rebounds in the loss.
