The Los Angeles Clippers got 31 points, nine assists, four rebounds and three steals out of Chris Paul and dominated the final few minutes to defeat the Dallas Mavericks 109-103 at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas on Thursday night.

The Mavericks pushed their lead to 11 with 8:40 to go in the fourth quarter, but it was all Clippers from there. They got the Mavericks’ lead down to four with 1:46 to go, 101-97. After two Jamal Crawford free throws, the Clippers got a stop and Blake Griffin tied the game. After another Mavericks’ miss, Paul hit two free throws to take the lead and they soon pushed it to four. Monta Ellis cut the lead back to two, but the Clippers made their final four free throws to ice the win. The Clippers outscored the Mavericks 27-10 in the last 8:40.

Griffin had 18 points, 13 rebounds and four assists and DeAndre Jordan added 16 points and 15 rebounds.

Vince Carter led the Mavericks with 23 points while Dirk Nowitzki had 21 points and nine rebounds.

The Clippers are now 51-22, just two games behind the Oklahoma City Thunder for the second seed in the Western Conference. The Mavericks are 43-30, half a game behind the Phoenix Suns for the final playoff spot in the west.
