After Johnny Manziel’s star-studded Pro Day on Thursday, Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer provided one of the more notable quotes of the event by calling it a “sideshow.”

But., away from the media asking him questions, it was a different story as NFL.com reports Zimmer was very interested in Manziel, going so far as to have an extensive conversation with Texas A&M head coach Kevin Sumlin.

"Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin and Minnesota Vikingshead coach Mike Zimmerspoke extensively during the workout. After the workout ended, College Football 24/7 asked Sumlin about the substance of the conversation, but the veteran coach wasn’t offering any insight into what Zimmer wanted to know about Manziel."

Just because Zimmer thought the Pro Day event itself was a bit much, certainly doesn’t mean that he’s not interested in look to bring Manziel in, and no one knows Manziel better than Sumlin.

With the inconsistencies at quarterback the past few seasons, the team is in the market for someone new under center, and with a pick in the top-10, there’s a chance that Johnny Football can fall into their laps.

If he does, Zimmer may have collected all the information that he needed from Sumlin.
