The Chicago Bulls have turned their season around and are now in a prime position to make a deep playoff run that could include some upset wins. But while the team is going strong now, there are questions about its future — specifically at point guard.

With Derrick Rose out yet again for the entire season, the opportunity for D.J. Augustin to shine arose and he seized it with a vengeance. Bulls center Joakim Noah is so impressed that he’s already lobbying for Augustin to return next season and re-sign over the summer.

Chicago doesn’t have to keep Augustin and their front office history recently suggests that they won’t. Augustin has likely played his way into a decent offseason contract with someone else while the Bulls will look to the draft and veteran free agent market for a surrogate guard while Rose heals and returns for however long his third stint back lasts.
