DeSean Jackson says being released by Philadelphia Eagles was ‘humbling experience’
By Bryan Rose
As one of the better wide receivers in the NFL, DeSean Jackson probably never honestly believed he’d be traded – let alone given his walking papers via release.
But that’s exactly what happened to the Pro Bowl wideout and needless to say, he was taken back by it, saying his release from the Philadelphia Eagles was a ‘humbling experience’
"DeSean: getting released was humbling experience, being at height of career and being released. Best is ahead of me."
Humbling for Jackson, it was pretty shocking for most to see the Eagles release the wide receiver but they didn’t have many options. Sure, there were teams interested in acquiring him via trade but it did little for the Eagles as the offers were bottom barrel.
As for the opposition, they weren’t giving up anything of value considering they knew the Eagles were between a rock and a hard place, so the best alternative was to let him go if they weren’t interested in saving the relationship.
In the new age NFL, if you’re not conforming to team plans, there’s a good chance you’re out the door – something Jackson learned the hard way.
