The Washington Redskins have been trying to figure out what to do with the Robert Griffin III-Kirk Cousins situation and it’s led to everything from trade rumors to release rumors and especially trade denials.

Everyone is wondering what will happen between RGIII and Cousins and the Redskins have come up with a solution — add another cook in the kitchen. Colt McCoy quietly signed a contract with the Redskins on Thursday to become their third string, third wheel quarterback.

It’s an interesting move as McCoy has been knocked down another peg in his career that has seen him go from starter in Cleveland to backup in San Francisco and now third stringer in Washington.

But while the move isn’t a bad one for the Redskins, it’s one that will be talked about by fans since there are now three quarterbacks on roster with starting experience. McCoy won’t be threatening Griffin III for his job, but this could be a precursor to the Redskins moving Cousins elsewhere.
