The Tennessee Titans are expected to release running back Chris Johnson on Friday and there are already three teams looking to possibly sign him when he hits the open market. While the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants are hard to read in terms of their interest, the New York Jets have been linked to Johnson from the start and will be heavily mentioned when he’s cut.

But according to Jets beat writer Manish Mehta, the Jets won’t be wearing gasoline soaked suits while jumping through flaming hoops in order to ink Johnson. While New York is a likely landing spot, price may end up preventing it from happening.

Per the New York Daily News:

"The Titans’ widely anticipated release of Chris Johnson on Friday raises the question whether the three-time Pro Bowler’s next destination could be Rex Ryan’s team. Sources told the Daily News this week that the Jets have some level of interest in the 28-year-old Johnson if the price is right."

There isn’t a ton of interest in Johnson at the moment and his price may not be that high. He also can’t afford to sit out and get rusty, so a game of contractual chicken may ensue with Johnson.

He hasn’t even been officially cut yet but when he is, it may take longer than we thought for Johnson to find a contract.
