NBA Rumors: Kyrie Irving has never been happy with Cleveland Cavaliers, wants to leave
By Josh Hill
There have been rumblings about the unhappiness of Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving all season long but another report has surfaced and it seems more dire than any of the others. While the previous reports were mere rumblings, this latest report of Irving wanting out of Cleveland comes from the very connected Brian Windhorst.
Not only is Windhorst reporting that Irving wants out, he’s saying that if Irving stays it will only be after everyone he hates his gone. This pretty much means everyone associated with the organization would need to exit, as Windhorst paints a grim picture of life in Cleveland.
"The truth is [Kyrie’s] camp has been putting out there for years – years – that he doesn’t want to be in Cleveland. That they don’t want him in Cleveland. He doesn’t like Mike Brown. He didn’t like Chris Grant. He doesn’t like Dion Waiters. He’s already gotten a General Manager fired. He might get Mike Brown fired. … I’m just giving you my feel right now and my feel is that he’s not crazy about [signing the full max extension] unless he gets everything checked off across the board."
Of course, we’ve heard nothing but nice things from Irving, but Windhost implies that this is simply Irving not trying to look like a problem.
A lot can happen between now and the offseason but it’s starting to sound like Irving accepting a lesser contract elsewhere in the NBA just so he can exit Cleveland is a real possibility.
