There has been a lot of mystery about just why the Philadelphia Eagles decided to cut their best and most consistent wide receiver, and that mystery isn’t any closer to being officially solved. While it’s now obvious that this new regime hated Jackson — and likely vice versa — the official reason for Jackson’s release hasn’t really been pinpointed and not even the man himself knows why he was cut.

Jackson spoke in a lengthy interview with ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith on Friday and noted, among other things, that he was never given a reason for his release.

Per ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith:

"“I was sitting there waiting for the reason why, but that’s basically all I can (recall) from the conversation … I got off the phone. I was like, ‘Are you sure? That’s it?’ We hung up. That was it.”"

This makes the mystery even stranger as the Eagles have been hiding behind the gang allegations without officially doing so. Something shady is afoot in Philadelphia and after winning over skeptics with his offense in 2013, Chip Kelly and the Eagles are back to being a team everyone seemingly wants to hate — this time for good reason.
