A memorial service for Buffalo Bills late owner Ralph Wilson Jr. was held Saturday, and his widow—Bills’ new controlling owner Mary Wilson—thanked fans for the support they have shown since his passing, according to Mike Rodak of ESPN NFL Nation.

"I want to take this opportunity to thank Bills fans and people everywhere for their tremendous outpouring of love for Ralph. Their heartfelt condolences and warm wishes have truly been a comfort for me, Ralph’s daughters Christy and Dee Dee, Mary Owen and the entire Wilson family during this difficult time."

The last remaining member of the eight original AFL team owners, Ralph passed on March 25, leaving Mary with the beloved Bills. Though Buffalo has been to four Super Bowls—in consecutive seasons from 1990 to ’93—and lost them all, its fans are some of the best and most loyal in the league. It comes as no surprise that despite the team’s history of struggles, fans have shown nothing but love toward the Wilson family.

Mary concluded with the following:

"Ralph most likely would have offered a funny quip about today’s event. But at the same time, he would have been profoundly touched by the fans outpouring of emotion."
