Pittsburgh Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey did not even get double-digit reps last season before suffering a torn ACL that brought a premature ending to his year. Pouncey is expected to be healthy in time for training camp, as he enters a contract year.

With Pouncey earning Pro Bowl honors three-times in his young career and proving to be a valuable anchor in the center of the Steelers offensive line, the team would be wise to lock him up for the future and that appears to be the team’s plan.

According to ESPN.com, the Steelers are expected to prioritize a long-term extension for Pouncey.

It is possible that the two sides will begin discussions this offseason, but do not expect an agreement to take place until after the season where Pouncey can prove he is back to 100 percent.
