The NBA is counting to make a push towards becoming an even more global league and 2014 will see a new batch of teams hit the road and travel overseas to spread the good word of American professional basketball. According to a press release from the NBA, five teams will be heading over to Europe this fall to participate in the NBA Global Games, and some of the brightest stars in basketball will be there to represent the league.

Per an NBA Press Release:

"As part of the schedule, five teams – the Brooklyn Nets, Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, Sacramento Kings, and San Antonio Spurs – will play a series of games in five cities in Brazil, China, Germany, and Turkey.  NBA Global Games will also include regular-season games to be announced at a later date."

Five preseason games will be played in four different countries and a regular season game is also part of the mix. All of this is a furthered effort by Adam Silver and the NBA to make their sport known overseas, much like the NFL is trying to do with games in London.

Silver has said that David Stern helped get the NBA to the heights it is int he States, but his goal is to globalize the sport even further. International players enter the NBA every year, so the market is there and the audience is willing to buy into the NBA.

The only question is can the NBA tap into the resources overseas and Adam Silver is trying his best to find out.
