Florida State Seminoles wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin is currently expected to be one of the top pass catchers selected in the 2014 NFL Draft, but he made a big mistake on Thursday that could negatively affect his draft stock.

According to reports, Benjamin did exactly what you don’t want to do during the draft season and blew off a workout with an NFL scout who made a special trip to see him.

The reason Benjamin gave for blowing off the workout? He was simply too tired.

Gil Brandt of NFL.com passed along the report.

It is stunning to see such a poor decision at this point in the process, and Benjamin will need to issue a direct apology and better explanation for his decision.

By refusing to show up to a workout because he was “too tired,” teams around the league may begin to question Benjamin’s work ethic and it is a major red flag. With a grueling offseason ahead with organized team activities and training camps, it could be hard to trust that Benjamin will get up every day and put in his full effort.
