New York Jets defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson has been one of the most impressive players at his position around the league, so it would be understandable if he began to ask for a pay raise and contract extension.

However, Wilkerson has been saying that he has no intention of being a distraction for the team by holding out and now he is saying that he hopes that he is able to wear a Jets uniform for the remainder of his career.

“I told them at the end of the year last year that I want to be a Jet – a Jet for life,” Wilkerson said, via Bart Hubbuch of the New York Post. “I’m from the area [Linden, N.J.], I’m a local guy, so I would love to be here and finish my career here.”

Wilkerson does hurt his value by saying he has no intentions of leasing New York, but it is something that will keep the fans in his corner.
