The Washington Wizards are just days away from their first playoff birth since the 2007-2008 season but it’s not all hugs and daps in the locker room right now.

After dropping to the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference on Thursday night, Wizards head coach Randy Wittman ripped both John Wall and Bradley Beal for a lack of effort:

"“When you don’t put effort in, you’re not going to have good showings. It just filters down,” Wittman said. “You can’t play with no energy or effort at one end of the floor and expect to turn it on at the other end of the floor. It doesn’t work that way. That’s been proven with these guys. It was almost like we were spinning our wheels in mud. We just didn’t come out with any enthusiasm. I don’t even know if they had a sweat broken at the jump ball.”"

Ouch.

Probably not the type of stuff you want to be seeing (or hearing, as a player) just days before the regular season comes to an end, but Wittman attempting to nip the problem in the behind called out his players in the media.

The Wizards will attempt to get themselves back into the sixth seed in effort to avoid either the Miami Heat or Indiana Pacers in the seventh seed.
