No, no, the New England Patriots aren’t looking to replace Tom Brady – but they are looking to select a quarterback in the 2014 NFL Draft.

Fearing that backup Ryan Mallet will leave in free agency at the end of the 2014 season, Draft Insider hears those around the league believe the Patriots will draft a quarterback to keep pace.

"The feeling league wide is the Patriots will take a quarterback at some point in the draft as they expect to lose Ryan Mallett at the end of next season, hence the interest in Thomas."

The Patriots have worked out a handful of well known quarterbacks in recent weeks including Johnny Manziel and Teddy Bridgewater, but they were likely just doing their due diligence as any NFL franchise should.

Logan Thomas of Virginia Tech appears to be the name most associated with the Patriots at this point, though as we know the Pats are usually relatively secret (with anything) so their interest in Thomas likely needs to be taken with a grain of salt.
