It was originally reported that former Louisville Cardinals’ quarterback Teddy Bridgewater would be working out for the Minnesota Vikings next week.

The Vikings are doing their due diligence at the position because 2011 first round pick Christian Ponder has not worked out and veteran Matt Cassel is nothing more than a stopgap.

The Vikings could take a quarterback with the eighth overall pick or could even trade back into the first round, like they did last season, to pick one up. Either way, the Vikings are expected to pick a quarterback at some point fairly early in next month’s draft.

They are obviously anxious to get a look at Bridgewater because they have moved his workout up.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Vikings are now working out Bridewater on Saturday.

Bridgewater entered the draft process widely considered as the top quarterback prospect. However, a supposedly poor Pro Day and “shaky” workouts have really hurt Bridgewater’s stock.
