According to ESPN analyst Adam Schefter, the Los Angeles Police Department has now not only confirmed the arrest of San Francisco 49ers star Aldon Smith, but also that he was detained for indicating that he possessed a bomb.

This is one of the wildest stories that we’ve heard in some time, while also very unfortunate given the person involved. This is yet another unwanted run-in with the law, coming on the heels of his arrest for DUI last season which caused him to miss a significant amount of time as he underwent a five-week treatment program.

For the 49ers, this is the second piece of bad publicity this week as there are reports that quarterback Colin Kaepernick is under investigation for an alleged incident at a Miami hotel in which a woman wound up taking a trip to the hospital.
