NFL Draft Rumors: Carolina Panthers work out Odell Beckham, Jarvis Landry

The Carolina Panthers are looking at ways they can fix their boneheaded moves this offseason and replenish the wide receiver pool they drained rather inexplicably. When they purged their roster of basically every single weapon quarterback Cam Newton had in 2013, almost everyone believed they were going to look at the draft to fill their needs and so far that’s been the case.

While the draft isn’t until May, the Panthers are working out some of the top prospects at wide receiver and have recently brought in LSU wide outs Jarvis Landry and Odell Beckham.

Both Landry and Beckham are generating a considerable amount of hype for themselves but with the Panthers the interest is perhaps more dire than any other case. There’s a chance they could draft both receivers but at this point the Panthers would draft Red Lightning if it meant getting a body on roster at wide receiver.

The Panthers are replacing ten catches a game from receivers. While they need a #1 receiver, they did not have one last year and did just fine. I have to trust Gettleman knows what he is doing at this point- but the situation is definitely not dire by any means-

Boneheaded? They got rid of 2 #3 wrs and a #1 who’s production didn’t match his paycheck, there’s nothing boneheaded about it. Those guys weren’t the future of the organization so they were not treated like it. The guys they’ve signed are not the future either. The future is in the draft and that’s where they will build. If there wasn’t so much money tied up in “boneheaded” contracts from the previous regime, then they may have made a play at a bigger commodity, if he was young and proven, but that wasn’t the scenario. Free agency isn’t over and the draft it’s right around the corner. I hope the real fans understand the situation as well as the plans for the future and quit this nonsensical bashing of the Panthers FO. Great things are on the horizon
