Under new leadership, the Detroit Lions will look a little different this season in all aspects of the game. That includes the backfield as Reggie Bush and Joique Bell are to be used in a ‘split’ role, this according to offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi.

"Joe Lombardi on using Reggie Bush and Joique Bell: “I see these guys kind of having a split role and both being very productive.”"

What exactly that honestly means is up for interpretation. Is that a true time share situation where each get about 50 percent of the snaps? Or are they going to go for a more traditional route and have Bell play backup to Bush?

We’ve heard for weeks that the Lions were going to use such a strategy moving forward, but this is the first time we’ve heard actual confirmation of such from the team themselves.

Head coach Jim Caldwell is known for his love of a more traditional offense, so not only will we see Matthew Stafford likely gunning the ball less per game, we’ll see a more ‘true’ running game.
